Joel Barlow Lacrosse Booster Club

The mission and responsibility of the Lacrosse Booster Club is to generate the funds needed to support all levels of JBHS lacrosse for both girls and boys. To those of you who are new to JBHS lax, our program is paid for by a combination of funds from parent contributions (Varsity, JV, Freshman) and Region 9 (Varsity + JV only). The Varsity lax program at Barlow began in 2000 as a club sport (entirely funded by parents). The program has expanded tremendously in just a few short years and now includes programs for boys and girls at the Freshman, JV, and Varsity levels. Barlow lax is entering its 8th season, but much of the funds to support all levels of JBHS lax still comes from parents. You’ll hear more about parent financial contributions at the February parent kick-off meetings (dates–TBD).

In addition to providing funds for the lax program, the Booster Club also organizes various activities throughout the season to show our support of the teams. This includes staffing the snack shed, hosting pasta dinners, organizing Senior Recognition, taking game photos, organizing the banquet, selling game program ads, etc. In past seasons we’ve relied too heavily on a few parents to carry the workload that benefits all our children throughout the season. Many of these parents had children in the program from the very beginning and worked hard then and continued to work hard during the years their children were at Barlow. Those children — and their parents — have now graduated from Barlow and, although we’re sure they’ll always support us in spirit, these dedicated parents won’t be around this season to help out. We’re counting on each and every parent to do his/her part to support the lax program in the upcoming season! You’ll hear more about volunteer opportunities at the February parent kick-off meetings.

We hope you will consider helping out. There are only a few members on the Board, and that’s simply not enough people to do the work that must be done. Whether you are new to Barlow lax or your son/daughter has played for several years, we encourage you to get involved at the Board or committee level.  Please contact a board member and let us know how you can help out.
